Rick Perry released a new TV ad on Wednesday touting his credibility among veterans and stressing his credentials to be commander in chief.
The ad, titled "President of Honor," will air on broadcast and cable channels in South Carolina.
"The decorated military veterans in this TV ad speak strongly for Gov. Perry's character, faith and leadership," said spokesman Ray Sullivan in a release sent out by Perry's campaign. "These vets know Rick Perry's pro-American, pro-job and pro-veteran record."
According to the campaign, Perry is the only candidate in the race for president who volunteered to serve in the U.S. military. He is not the only candidate who served.
Perry moved his campaign to South Carolina after a disappointing fifth-place finish in Iowa, earning 10 percent of the vote. He skipped New Hampshire's primary, where he took 1 percent on Tuesday, instead pleading with South Carolina voters to "take a second look."
If Perry can't regain traction in South Carolina, it could be the end of his struggling campaign. The primary is set for Jan. 21.
