Supporters of the so-called "Stache Act" crashed a Ron Paul rally in Missouri to seek the Republican presidential candidate's endorsement.
"We're hoping to get a moment with Mr. Paul, or at least to see to mustached Americans in action," said American Mustache Institute Director of Research Dr. Dan Callahan in a Web video of the Paul event. "We think that this is a libertarian message that Ron Paul could embrace."
The
American Mustache Institute, which partnered with H&R Block on its campaign, is seeking to pass federal legislation that would provide an annual $250 tax refund "for people of facial hair."
Callahan approached Paul at the event and yelled "are you in favor of the Stache Act?" toward the Texas congressman.
Paul appeared to give a semi-wave or hand gesture of some kind in response.
Although the American Mustache Institute called Paul's reaction a "hearty endorsement of the Stache Act," it's hardly clear that the presidential hopeful heard the question or was even responding to Callahan at all.
The hirsute group is calling on mustachioed Americans to join the "Million Mustache March" in Washington, D.C., on April 1 in support of the legislation.
American Mustache Institute Chairman Aaron Perlut announced the march during a Capitol Hill rally last month, calling on Congress to pass the tax credit.
Coincidence or not, Sunday, April 1 is also April Fool's Day.
