NM House candidate says he can 'throw a punch' in new ad

"He stood up to developers and passed tough green building codes," said the ad's voiceover. "Sued George Bush over greenhouse gas emissions. Took hits from Big Oil for supporting President Obama’s fuel efficiency standards. And fought to save Kirtland Air Force base and nearly 7,000 jobs. He’s endorsed by Bill Clinton.

"Because to get things done in Congress, you have to take the hits."

The ad, shot with local professional boxer Josh "Pit Bull" Torres, aims to prove Chavez has the wherewithal to stand hits from interest groups, according to a campaign press release.

"I know how to throw a punch too," Chavez says as he delivers a knock-out punch to Torres.

This is Chavez's second campaign ad — the first featured the mayor dragging a hot air balloon — as he seeks the seat of Rep. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), who is retiring from the House to run for Senate.
