The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is out with an ad slamming Arizona House candidate Jesse Kelly (R) for calling for an end to Medicare.
"Jesse Kelly said that over time he's going to get rid of Medicare," says Noel Hatfield, a Tucson construction worker, in the ad. "I don't think it's right for Jesse Kelly and people to decide that I don't get my Medicare that I've been paying for."
Kelly called during his 2010 run against Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) for a gradual phase-out and complete privatization of Medicare and Social Security, though he's backed away from those statements this election.
He and former Giffords aide Ron Barber (D) are locked in a hard-fought race for the Republican-leaning seat left open when Giffords retired earlier this year. The election will take place on June 12.
