Crossroads up with new ads in New Mexico, North Dakota

By Cameron Joseph - 06/27/12 08:23 AM ET

The Republican-affiliated outside groups American Crossroads and Crossroads GPS are up with new ads in New Mexico and North Dakota, expanding on previous buys in two states they have made priorities as of late.

Both ads are continuations of early messages they've pushed in those states: The Crossroads GPS ad in North Dakota slams Democratic former state Attorney General Heidi Heitkamp for supporting Democrats' healthcare reform law, while in New Mexico, American Crossroads is up with a positive spot touting former Rep. Heather Wilson's (R) accomplishments. The video calls her an "independent voice for change" who "stood up to both parties to cut wasteful Washington spending."

Both ads have $180,000 behind them and will run on air through July 7.

The two states have seen a flurry of advertising in recent weeks: The Crossroads groups have already been spending there, a coalition of environmental groups has been on the air in New Mexico to help Rep. Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.) and rip Wilson's record, and Heitkamp has been up defending her own record on healthcare issues.

The Hill rates New Mexico as a "lean Democratic" race, while North Dakota is a "toss-up."
