Former Missouri state Treasurer Sarah Steelman (R) has released an ad featuring former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin (R) touting her as "economist who defends our tax dollars like a mama grizzly defends her cubs."
"We get America back on track by sending true conservatives like Sarah Steelman to Washington," Palin says in the ad. "Sarah Steelman earned her reputation as a conservative maverick blocking pork-barrel spending and Sarah will fight for a constitutional amendment that forces Congress to balance the budget."
Steelman is a slight underdog in Missouri's three-way GOP Senate primary — a poll released over the weekend showed her trailing businessman John Brunner (R) by 33 to 27 percent. Palin's support could give her a boost among the state's conservatives heading into the Aug. 7 primary.
