Former Wisconsin Gov. Tommy Thompson (R) is out with a new ad against Rep. Tammy Baldwin (D-Wis.), blasting the Senate candidate for voting against a bill that, in part, would memorialize the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks.
"Tammy Baldwin had the opportunity to vote to honor the victims of 9/11, and she voted against it," one military veteran says in the ad.
"It's a slap in the face to every one of their families and anyone who has ever served in the United States military," another says. "Tammy Baldwin's extreme far-left approach leaves this country in jeopardy."
Baldwin
said at the time that she voted against the bill because Republicans had inserted provisions praising the Patriot Act and hard-line immigration measures.
The two are locked in a very tight Senate race — both sides believe they hold a narrow lead in the polls.
