'Sex and the City' fashionista sports pro-Obama shirt

By Judy Kurtz - 10/25/12 05:01 PM ET

Actress Sarah Jessica Parker made her case for President Obama on Thursday, talking at length with the hosts of “Access Hollywood Live” about why she’s supporting the president’s reelection campaign.

The “Sex and the City” star, who has been stumping for Obama and held a $40,000 per plate fundraiser at her New York home in June, told the entertainment news show's anchors Billy Bush and Kit Hoover, “I would feel enormous despair for the future of this country” if GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney were elected president.

The actress, 47, contends that while she would “benefit from the things that are most important to Romney and his extremely right-wing vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan,” there is “too much at stake about the people that matter.”

The fashion maven, who sported a purple “Viva Obama” T-shirt, said she would’ve donned a similar-looking pin on the show to go with her pro-Obama outfit. But while wearing her accessory during a shopping trip at an Irish grocery store, Parker says bumped into a nun: “She leaned over to me and said, ‘I love your pin and I’m praying for the president.’ ”

The entertainer says she quickly handed over her prized partisan pin: “I was deeply touched and excited by that, and of course I gave her the pin, so I didn’t have it to share today.”
