Biden stumbles over words in Wisconsin speech

By Daniel Strauss - 11/02/12 02:18 PM ET

Vice President Biden stirred some confusion Friday over comments about his pride in serving as President Obama's vice president.

Biden garbled his words during a campaign event in Beloit, Wis. so it sounded like he said "there's never been a day in the last four years I've been proud to be his vice president."

Some attendees at the event said it was unclear whether Biden accidentally said he's never been proud of being Obama's vice president or what he clearly intended, that he's always been proud to serve with the president.

Obama campaign officials disputed that Biden misspoke in his speech. A media pool report from the event said it was evident Biden was expressing pride in his job.

During the 2012 vice presidential debate with Paul Ryan in October, Ryan teased Biden about his habit of making gaffes.

"I think the vice president very well knows that sometimes the words don't come out of your mouth the right way," Ryan said.

Biden shrugged off the jab.

"I always say what I mean," Biden responded.
