Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch (D) released her first ad in the race to fill the House seat vacated by Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.), touting her ability to create jobs in the area.
"I've spent 20 years using our ports to create jobs, selling American products made by American workers," she says in the ad. "I approve this message because I'm not going to talk about the jobs that we lost. I know what it takes to create new jobs."
Colbert Busch, comedian Stephen Colbert's sister, is the lone Democrat running in the GOP-leaning district. On the other side, a crowded Republican field including former South Carolina Gov. Mark Sanford (R) is vying for the GOP nomination.
Her decision to air this commercial now, fully two months before the general election and nearly a month before the Republican primary runoff date, hints that her fundraising has been going very well.
