Trump, hinting at run, says Americans 'desperate for leadership'

“I have a large group of people who want to see this stop," Trump said. "We can’t just keep doing it. We’re a debtor nation. Our airports are falling apart. Our roads and bridges are falling apart.”

But Trump stopped short of indicating he planned to run.

“I’m looking at a lot of different things,” he said.

Trump made similar overtures during the 2012 presidential campaign, repeatedly indicating that he might enter the contest while also challenging the authenticity of President Obama's birth certificate. In April 2011, Trump briefly surged to the top of the Republican field, but ultimately opted against a run, instead endorsing eventual nominee Mitt Romney.
