Polling has shown Quinn to be one of the most unpopular governors in the country, with high disapproval ratings from both Democrats and Republicans.

Daley will likely have little trouble fundraising and has deep Illinois connections. He's the brother of former Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley (D) and son of former Chicago Mayor Richard J. Daley (D), the city's two longest-serving mayors.

Daley's predecessor in the White House, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel (D), replaced Richard M. Daley in city hall and has sparred at times with Quinn.
