Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus to attend DC premiere of 'Veep'

The show features former "Seinfeld" actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus as the fictional vice president of the United States and former Sen. Selina Meyer.

Louis-Dreyfus and co-star Anna Chlumsky are expected to hit the town for the Wednesday premiere at the United States Institute of Peace in downtown D.C.

"Veep" is a behind-the-scenes look at the professional life of the vice president and her staff. The show is scripted, but shot in an improvisational style, according to HBO.

The new comedy was created by Armando Iannucci, director of the British television series "The Thick of It" and the political comedy "In the Loop," which also featured Chlumsky.

The national television premiere of "Veep" airs on HBO April 22.
