Rep. Dennis Kucinich (D-Ohio) released a Web video praising the “Occupy Wall Street” protesters and calling on Americans to support their efforts.
"Your presence is making a difference. You're exercising the right every American holds most dear, the right of freedom of expression, and with that expression you're finally getting the attention of the nation," said Kucinich in the video released Tuesday.
"Wall Street banks got billion dollar bailouts, yet the American people get austerity," he added.
Several liberal House lawmakers endorsed the Occupy Wall Street movement Wednesday. Leaders of the Congressional Progressive Caucus said they were inspired by demonstrators who have been arrested and pepper sprayed during altercations with police.
Kucinich called for "economic justice" and a financial system that is "of the people and for the people."
In the video, he touted his introduction of legislation that would move the Federal Reserve under the authority of the Treasury Department.
The congressman concluded his message saying, "We're the American people. Our dream of freedom and prosperity is too big to fail. Let's support those young people on Wall Street."
