GOP Rep. Hensarling to Obama: 'Show us your hand' on sequester cuts

“All this is saying is, 'Mr. President, show us your hand, show us your plan,'" said House Republican Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), who authored the bill. "Let the American people know what the true impact is going to be on our national defense, on our economy, on a number of vital services, because you have the discretion,” he said.

The bill enjoyed broad support from both parties and passed easily in a 414-2 vote. The two "no" votes came from Democratic Reps. Eliot Engel (N.Y.) and Maurice Hinchey (N.Y.).

Under the sequester, the Office of Management and Budget must by Jan. 2 cut $109 billion from 2013 mandatory and discretionary spending accounts unless Congress provides a different plan.
