"Today marks an important step forward in the inaugural preparations and I'm sure that with your hard work the 57th presidential inauguration will be a successful celebration of our great democratic country," said Sen. Charles Schumer (D-NY).

After Schumer spoke, the members of Congress, including Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Majority Leader Eric Cantor (R-Va.), Boehner and Pelosi, took to their hammers. Pelosi struggled to get her nail into the wood, which prompted assistance from the Speaker and drew laughter from the crowd.
