Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) pushed back hard Tuesday against the
notion that Democrats want to push the fiscal cliff fight into 2013.
Although some Democrats have suggested that going over the cliff would
provide President Obama and the party the greatest leverage in the
battle for a fiscal cliff compromise, Pelosi said House Democratic
leaders want to finalize a deal before Jan. 1.
And she didn't mince words.
“I want you to be disabused of any notion that there's any widespread
thought that it would be a good thing for our country for us to go over
the cliff,” she said during a press conference in the Capitol. “We want
an agreement. We want an agreement.”
