Congressman competes against grocery-bagging champ

The 76-year-old congressman, who spent several years as a professional grocery bagger, undoubtedly gave it his all as he delicately placed common supermarket items in bags during the timed showdown.

But he was no match for the champ, who managed to put all his products in four bags in less than 40 seconds.

McDermott is seen in a YouTube video opening up his third reusable bag just as Borracchini — who has been featured on “The Late Show with David Letterman” — raises his arms in victory during the competition at the Rayburn House Office Building.

While the title of “Best Congressional Bagger” remains elusive, McDermott likely has at least one thing going for him — he’s probably a dream to be behind in the checkout line.
