GOP lawmaker: I don't think there will be a shutdown in 2014

Asked if leaders would allow a government shutdown in mid-January, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) responded, "I don't think so."

Government funding will expire Jan. 15 as part of the new debt-limit law that President Obama signed into law Wednesday night.

Nunes has been highly critical of the House GOP's decision to embrace Sen. Ted Cruz's (R-Texas) strategy on defunding ObamaCare during the fiscal talks.

"Speaker [John] Boehner's [R-Ohio] going to be fine. There's a lot of back biting from people who don't have the votes that think they should be Speaker. [Their strategy] failed," Nunes told The Hill.
