Huntsman: ‘speak directly to the Chinese people’

By Joshua Altman - 08/23/11 12:21 PM ET

Jon Huntsman (R) said Tuesday morning that if elected president he would “speak directly to the Chinese people.”

Huntsman speaks Mandarin Chinese and was ambassador to China under President Obama before resigning to seek the Republican nomination for President.

Speaking on CNBC as part of their “inside the campaign” series, Huntsman said “shared values” will be “the glue that will hold” the U.S.-China relationship and that political reform including the role of the internet in Chinese society will remain a “force for change.”
