Rubio: I am not running for VP

By Erica Wisniewski - 08/24/11 01:12 PM ET

Sen. Marco Rubio(R-Fla.) said Tuesday that he is "not going to be the Vice Presidential nominee" in 2012.

The freshman senator told an audience at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library that he wants to focus on his work in the upper chamber.

In his address, Rubio talked about conservatism in America and critiqued the role the federal government, taking a stab at policies put in place by previous administrations. He did not elaborate which administrations he was referring to.

"I know it's popular in my party to blame the President, the current President, but the truth is the only thing this president has done is accelerate policies that were already in place, and were doomed to fail."
