John Huntsman (R) said, “as president I wouldn’t hesitate to call on sacrifice from all of our people even those at the highest end of the income spectrum.”
In an interview with PBS Newshour Thursday morning and scheduled to air the same night, Huntsman did not specify what “sacrifice” would mean “but there are people who can give, perhaps more than others.”
Huntsman included the possibility of a means test for Medicare and Social Security.
Democrats have called for shared sacrifice and a “balanced approach” in deficit reduction, which would include higher taxes on the nation’s highest earners.
