Entertainer Penn Jillette bashed Republican presidential candidate and Rep. Michele Bachmann (Minn.) on Friday for making “blasphemous” comments about recent natural disasters being messages from God to politicians.
Jillette said he and his friends “have tried with a combination of blasphemy, obscenity and pornographic images to say the most blasphemous thing possible, but we cannot touch Michele Bachmann.”
Appearing on MSNBC’s Martin Bashir program, the magician, author and comedian said, “No one of deep religious faith would ever say something that callous and opportunistic.”
After making the comments, Bachmann claimed they were meant as a joke.
