During an interview Tuesday, former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger dismissed "everyone in Washington" as a "failure" for being unable to pass comprehensive immigration reform and deficit reductions.
The former movie star and California lawmaker, appearing on "Fox and Friends," was asked if it was "a failure for the president" that Congress had failed to pass a formal budget.
"Everyone in Washington," Schwarzenegger responded. "It's a failure. If Congress cannot get their act together and look at this, if you cannot get immigration reform done, which they have been talking about ever since I've gotten into office — they've talked about immigration reform; nothing gets done. Every year they say, 'Next year is an election coming up.' Hello? Of course there is an election coming up because that's the way the United States Constitution is. Every two years we have an election."
On Monday, Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney said illegal immigrants who receive temporary work permits because of the executive order issued by President Obama would be allowed to keep them under a Romney administration.
Earlier this year, the president issued an executive order that halted deportation proceedings against illegal immigrants who were brought to the United States as children and who graduated from high school and avoided arrest.
