Prince Harry finished his second tour of Afghanistan in January and he walked alone among the graves in section 60 before going to the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
"God Save the Queen" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" were played during the ceremony.
Afterward Prince Harry visited President Kennedy's tomb.
Next, the prince will visit with wounded warriors at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. On Thursday, Prince Harry visited Capitol Hill to tour an exhibit from The HALO Trust, an anti-landmine charity of which he is a patron. That evening lawmakers joined him at the British Embassy for a dinner.
Prince Harry will also make stops in Colorado, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut during his weeklong visit.
