Lawmakers, journalists to compete in spelling bee

The Virginia Democrat tells ITK he’s “diligently practicing 'contumacy,' 'casuistry' and desperately trying to get ‘potato’ right” (at least we think those are the SAT-worthy words he used) as he preps for the Sept. 18 showdown at the National Press Club in downtown Washington.

Money raised from the vocab-heavy event, which was first held back in 1913, will benefit the Press Club’s nonprofit Journalism Institute.
