Late-night smash: Putin's op-ed, Syria surrendering chemical weapons

"Putin said he wanted to reach the American people directly," Leno said. "That shows you how little Putin knows about America.

"If you want to reach American people you don't put it in a newspaper, you go on 'Dancing With the Stars.' "

Leno then told the audience that Syrian government officials admitted to possessing chemical weapons.

"Today former President George W. Bush said, 'That's where they were, I was so close,' " Leno joked.

Leno added that he isn't buying Assad's reasoning for surrendering his chemical weapons.

"Assad says he is turning over his chemical weapons because Russia asked them to, not because the U.S. is threatening to bomb him," Leno said. "Oh yeah, and Osama bin Laden, he is in the bottom of the ocean right now because he enjoys scuba diving."

Leno also warned that even if the United States does take care of Assad, America still has a bigger issue.

"What do we do with Anthony Weiner?" Leno asked.
