"On the day while people were hiding, while people were bleeding, while people were dying, while the nation was locked in on this, he's talking about harsh partisanship," Scarborough said.
Scarborough added that Obama's comments about harsh Republican policies were inappropriate and "one of these stupid Washington battles" that should have been temporarily set aside.
Scarborough was also shocked at the lack of backlash Obama dealt with for delivering the speech and said things would have been different if former President George W. Bush was still in office.
"Can you imagine what certain people at this network would have said?" he asked. "[Co-host] Mika [Brzezinski] would be killing George W. Everyone here on this network would be killing George W."
Brzezinski defended Obama, saying he was put in "a horrible position."
"No he wasn't," Scarborough responded. "He's president of the United States. He should be smart enough."
