Dem strategist Rye: ObamaCare launch was a 'smashing success'

"You have an issue where folks really thought that the Democrats were going to give in on this overall ObamaCare fight, and no one is going to do that," Rye said Wednesday on MSNBC's "Daily Rundown." "Particularly when you look at the fact that the rollout was yesterday, and it was a smashing success."

Host Chuck Todd joked that each opinion is in "the eye of the beholder."

"There were a couple of hiccups," Rye admitted.

Todd pointed out that it is unclear why Americans are encountering glitches when they go to sign up for the healthcare exchange.

"Here's what we don't know in the glitches," Todd said. "Is it glitches due to demand, or is it glitches due to glitches? I've even had folks at the White House say, 'Ask me in three days. We hope it's due to glitches in demand.'"

Rye said Americans' overwhelming curiosity of the healthcare reform law overshadowed any problems they encountered while trying to sign up.

"Nevertheless, you still had overwhelming interest," she said. "There has been this pushback that none of the Americans understand this or that none of the American people want to be a part of this, and that's not true.

"At least there were people that were curious," Rye added. "We do know at least that. There were a lot of viewers."
