WATCH: Trump must use bully pulpit to win policy support, GOP reps say

GOP lawmakers want President Trump to use his "showman" skills to win support ahead of policy battles on Capitol Hill, such as repealing and replacing ObamaCare.

"The chief executive in the legislative process is the one that gets the real microphone and he has the capacity to communicate ideas and concepts in a way that a cacophony of 535 of us cannot do," Rep. Mark Sanford (R-S.C.) said in an interview with The Hill's Molly K. Hooper, referring to the total number of members of Congress.

Texas GOP Rep. Mike Conaway referred to Trump as a "showman" and predicted he will "take advantage of his ability to create a show" to pressure vulnerable Democrats in the Senate against filibustering his Supreme Court nominee Neil Gorsuch.
