One of America’s leading men might be behind bars.
Actor George Clooney was handcuffed and led away after being arrested by police officers Friday as he participated in a planned protest outside the Sudanese Embassy in Washington.
Clooney, 50, sported a zip-up jacket and jeans as he was joined at the demonstration by an eclectic mix of politicians, leaders and activists, including Reps. James McGovern (D-Mass.) and Jim Moran (D-Va.), Martin Luther King III and NAACP President Ben Jealous. The star of “The Descendants” even brought along his father, TV anchor Nick Clooney, to the protest.
“I’m proud to be here for this cause,” McGovern told The Hill as he was led away by officers, after he was asked how it felt to be placed under arrest.
