House meets to take on 'mini' spending bills

The first bill is a reaction to complaints that the Defense Department has stopped making "death gratuity" payments to the families members of slain soldiers. Republicans said Defense is authorized to make those payments, but the DOD disagreed, which prompted the GOP to pursue legislation making it clear that the payments should be continued.

The resolution is the Honoring the Families of Fallen Soldiers Act, H.J.Res. 91.

The second resolution is H.J.Res. 90, the Flight Safety Act. This bill would provide funding for the FAA, and like the other GOP spending bills, this funding would be provided through Dec. 15.

The Senate starts at 10:30 a.m., and has no votes planned for Wednesday.
