Sanders: 'it's an embarrassment' that Smithsonian gifts are made in China

Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-Nev.) in a marathon speech Wednesday afternoon suggested that the fact that the Smithsonian museums in Washington D.C. were at one time selling Chinese-made busts of American presidents serves as further evidence that free trade damages the United States.

“You know what their gift shop had?” asked the incredulous senator from Vermont, recounting a recent visit to the one of the national museums. “Most of the products in the gift shop were not made in America. Turns out they were made in China and other countries.”
