Reid: GOP in 'fear' of breaking Norquist tax pledge

On Wednesday, for the second consecutive day, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) tore into Republicans for their allegiance to conservative activist Grover Norquist.

“Who do they fear?” asked Reid, speaking of Senate Republicans. “The truth is they are terrified to violate the infamous Grover Norquist tax pledge even though they know Norquist is wrong — or if they don’t know, they should know.”

Norquist, the president of the anti-tax group Americans for Tax Reform, has obtained the signatures of all but 13 Republican members of Congress on his Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a commitment to oppose attempts to create a net increase in federal taxes.
