Criticizing the Susan G. Komen Foundation’s to defund Planned Parenthood, Sen. Barbra Boxer (D-Calif.) said Thursday the breast cancer foundation was getting involved in a “political witch hunt.”
"I’m reminded of the McCarthy era" Boxer said on MSNBC’s "Andrea Mitchell Reports," a period she described as “a congressman stands up, a senator, [and says] 'I’m investigating this organization and therefore people should stop funding them.' ”
The Komen foundation is under attack for defunding Planned Parenthood due to an investigation undertaken by House Republicans, claim foundation representatives deny.
In the same interview Sen. Patty Murray (D-Wash.) said that Komen has “put in place a policy that says directly that they will not provide funding for organizations like Planned Parenthood because of a partisan witch hunt in the House.”
