Sen. Hatch: Obama allied with 'most radical of pro-abortion advocates'

By Josiah Ryan - 02/09/12 12:54 PM ET

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) on Thursday attacked President Obama over a mandate forcing some religious-affiliated employers to provide coverage for contraception under their healthcare plans.

Hatch said the president had thrown his lot in with “the most radical of pro-abortion advocates.”

“The administration, rather than side with millions of religious Americans who just want to be left alone to practice their faith, decided to throw in with the most radical of pro-abortion advocates,” said Hatch, speaking from the floor.

“They decided to subordinate our central constitutional commitment to religious liberty to a radical agenda that is overtly hostile to these people of faith.”
