"I think Sen. Enzi may be confused. I think he may have me mixed up with Cynthia Lummis," Cheney said at a Thursday campaign stop, referring to the state's lone congresswoman. "What happened is I called Sen. Enzi to tell him that I was considering a run. And I have always believed that that decision should be made irrespective of whoever else is in the race."
Enzi said shortly after Cheney announced that she'd told him earlier she wouldn't run against him — and hadn't called to say she'd changed her mind. Cheney has indicated she may make his age an issue in the race, contrasting it as a generational divide.
