Sen. Jeff Sessions took to the Senate floor over the weekend, blaming the economy’s slow recovery on the White House’s tax and regulatory policies.
As Congress searches for an agreement to end a budget impasse that has shuttered most federal agencies, Sessions said the nation’s economic woes stem from a government that has expanded during the first five years of the Obama administration.
“We have taxed more, we have spent more, we have regulated more, we have borrowed more, we have stimulated more, and it hasn't produced solid growth,” the Alabama Republican said during remarks Sunday. “We have had the slowest recovery from a recession since the Great Depression.”
