Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) has pulled himself out of the race for House Republican Leader, declining to challenge current House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio).

"I have been honored and humbled by the outpouring of support from my colleagues who have asked me to lead our party in the 111th Congress," Ryan said. "As I reflect upon the strains that this position would place on my young family, I have decided not to enter my name as a candidate for House Minority Leader."

House Republican colleagues had reached out to Ryan to urge him to run, part of the shake-ups in leadership among the GOP after Tuesday's electoral losses.
