Hundreds of people waited in line in the Dupont Circle neighborhood in Washington, D.C., for a free joint on the morning of Donald Trump’s presidential inauguration.

The activist group DCMJ Dupont held its “inaugural #Trump420” event on Friday morning, giving away free coffee, tea and marijuana.

The group planned to hand out thousands of free joints as a message to the incoming president.

“We legalized cannabis in Washington, D.C. and we are not going to let anyone take that away from us!” the group wrote on its website. “This is an outreach opportunity to show President TrumpDonald TrumpDonald Trump Jr. calls Bruce Springsteen's dropped charges 'liberal privilege' Schiff sees challenges for intel committee, community in Trump's shadow McConnell says he'd back Trump as 2024 GOP nominee MORE supporters we are the marijuana majority!”

One of the group’s co-founders told Mashable that the free-joint event was not to protest the president-elect but to raise “awareness about cannabis reform and getting Trump to support full legalization of cannabis throughout the United Sates.”

According to the group’s Facebook page, the plan is to light the joints at 4 minutes and 20 seconds into Trump’s inaugural speech.
