ACLU: Trump's refusal to release White House visitor logs is unacceptable

The American Civil Liberties Union is denouncing President Trump's decision to keep White House visitor logs a secret.

In a statement released Friday afternoon, the ACLU called Trump's action "simply the latest in a series of efforts by President Trump to avoid public accountability."

“Elected officials work for the people and we deserve to see government business conducted in transparent daylight," it said.

The ACLU also ripped Trump on a number of other issues that all touch on transparency, from criticizing the media and citing false news reports to not disclosing his tax returns

“Trump has bullied the press when they report on him. He has promoted the reporting of fake and outright false information. He imposed gags on federal employees in the earliest days of his administration. He has avoided disclosing his tax records, and he has avoided releasing information about his conflicts of interest," it said.

"The only reasonable conclusion is to believe the Trump administration has many things it is trying to hide."

The ACLU previously attacked him after the release of both versions of his travel ban.
