‘SNL’ compares Trump Jr. Russia meeting to ‘To Catch a Predator’

“Saturday Night Live” mocked President Trump’s sons Thursday, comparing Donald Trump Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer last year to Dateline NBC’s “To Catch a Predator.”
Mikey Day played Trump Jr. and Alex Moffat portrayed Eric Trump, speaking on “Weekend Update” about the controversial meeting.
“The border has never been more secure, and the story of the summer —” the Trump Jr. actor began.
{mosads}“When you met with the Russians?” the Eric Trump character interjected.
“No, Eric. It’s our surging economy. No one cares about my meeting with the Russians anymore.”
The Trump Jr. character called the meeting a “nothingburger,” mimicking talk of how Trump allies have downplayed the meeting and the Russia investigation in the past.
The real Trump Jr. last month acknowledged meeting with a Russian lawyer who promised damaging information about Hillary Clinton during the presidential campaign.
The “SNL” version of Trump Jr. compared the meeting to Dateline NBC’s “To Catch a Predator,” a reality TV show that tries to lure sexual predators into a home with hidden cameras by pretending to be underage minors online.
“Yes, I went to the meeting, but nothing illegal happened. It’s like on ‘To Catch a Predator!’ If a guy shows up to a house with a 12-pack of Mike’s Hard Lemonade, turns out it’s a sting.”
“The guy shouldn’t get in trouble because nothing happened!” the Trump Jr. actor said.
