David Polyansky, a top strategist in Iowa for Walker, is joining Cruz’s campaign as a senior adviser based out of its Houston headquarters, according to Bloomberg Politics.
It’s a significant hire for Cruz, who is looking to beef up his staff with voting in early states fast approaching.
A native of Texas, Polyansky has deep ties in the Hawkeye State, having advised Sen. Joni Ernst’s (R) successful Senate campaign in 2014 and helping former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee win the Republican presidential caucuses there in 2008.
Many GOP campaigns have competed to hire former Walker staffers following his exit from the race in September.
