Cruz told the crowd at the Wisconsin GOP’s Milwaukee County Fish Fry that the tide is turning against Trump.

“People are waking up and help is on the way,” the Texas senator said, according to NBC News.

“Republicans are coming together and uniting behind this campaign.”

Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who endorsed Cruz and cut an ad for him this week, spoke on the Texas senator’s behalf as well. He said his support for Cruz is about more than just trying to stop Trump.

“My reasons are all about who I’m for, not about who I’m against,” Walker said. “I think that’s important in Wisconsin – we like to be for something, not against something.”

It was the first time the two shared a stage since Walker offered his endorsement. They are scheduled to campaign together Sunday as well.

Cruz has surged to the lead in recent Wisconsin polling. He is 3.8 points ahead of Trump in the Badger State, according to a RealClearPolitics polling average.
