The Orange County Sheriff’s office tweeted that about 20 were arrested during the demonstrations, but it reported no serious injuries.

Police had positioned themselves between Trump supporters and protesters of the event, and the crowd swarmed not long after it was ordered to disperse.

Footage of the conflict shows one protester jumping up and down on top of a smashed police car.

There were also scuffles that broke out between the supporters and protesters. Images circulated on social media of a man wearing a Trump shirt with a bloody face who was reportedly punched by a protester.

According to reports, many of the demonstrators were Hispanic and were protesting the Republican front-runner’s immigration proposals. Trump has vowed to deport 11 million undocumented immigrants and to build a wall along the border with Mexico.

Trump's campaign events have been repeatedly marred by violence, and he has faced calls to condemn the unrest more strongly.
