The National Republican Congressional Committee and the Republican-affiliated American Action Network are both up with new ads attacking Rep. Larry Kissell (D-N.C.), who has become a top GOP target since redistricting made his district much harder to hold.

The NRCCs buy is a small, $10,000 one that will run on cable in Charlotte, N.C., criticizing Kissells support of President Obamas stimulus package in 2009. The AANs buy has more money behind it and calls on Kissell to vote for a balanced-budget amendment, leaving out the fact that he has co-sponsored legislation to do exactly that.

The AAN is running a similar ad in Iowa, calling on Rep. Leonard Boswell (D-Iowa) to do the same. Boswell is locked in a tough race against Rep. Tom Latham (R-Iowa) in a swing district southwest of Des Moines. The two ads together have approximately $100,000 behind them, according to the group.
