Incoming National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Ore.) tapped Liesl Hickey to serve as executive director.

ILLINOIS: Former Rep. Mel Reynolds (D-Ill.) is jumping into the special-election race for former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr.‘s seat. And the Illinois House unanimously approved to set the special election to replace Jackson for April 9.


GEORIGA: Influential conservative commentator Erick Erickson said on his radio show he’s considering a primary challenge to Sen. Saxby Chambliss, after the Georgia Republican made dismissive comments about his pledge never to raise taxes under any circumstances.


Stuart Stevens, Mitt Romney‘s chief political strategist, defended the beleaguered former Republican presidential candidate in an op-ed for the Washington Post published Wednesday, warning the GOP of “a shortage of loyalty and an abundance of self-loathing.”

Former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman (R) is joining the nonpartisan grassroots group No Labels.  The group, founded by Republican strategist Mark McKinnon, former U.S. Comptroller David Walker and Democratic fundraiser Nancy Jacobsen, aims to encourage bipartisanship in national politics.
