Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.) mused about debating with Vice President Biden, saying an onstage showdown with President Obama’s running mate “would be quite enjoyable.”

Ayotte, whose name is frequently touted as a possible vice presidential pick for Mitt Romney, jabbed Biden over his penchant for eyebrow-raising statements.

“The vice president does have a way with words,” Ayotte told the Boston Herald.

Like all the Republicans presumed to be on Romney’s shortlist, Ayotte has been publicly mum about the process and downplayed her own interest in the position. A first-term senator, Ayotte backed Romney early, and has appeared with him on the campaign trail in Ohio and New Hampshire.

“It’s certainly an honor to be mentioned for consideration as vice president, but serving New Hampshire in the Senate is the greatest honor I could ask for,” Ayotte said.
