New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is skipping Hillary Clinton’s presidential launch event at Roosevelt Island in his city, prompting questions about his support for her candidacy.

De Blasio’s press secretary told the Associated Press that he would not make it to Saturday’s rally and the mayor confirmed the decision during a press conference on Wednesday, according to multiple reports.

{mosads}The mayor has long ties to Clinton and was campaign manager on her 2000 New York Senate campaign. But de Blasio has repeatedly shied away from endorsing Clinton’s 2016 presidential run, telling reporters that he is waiting to see more of her platform before he makes a decision.

He’s also previously praised Sens. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) for their progressive platforms during events.

He has also worked to bolster his own progressive chops by announcing a liberal version of the “Contract with America.” That plan called for a slew of progressive policies, including universal pre-K, a minimum wage hike, and paid family leave.
