Clinton on questions about lying: ‘I’ll just say no’

During a CNN town hall on Tuesday night, Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton was shown a clip from CBS’s “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in which the host mocked her answer during an interview about whether she has ever lied as a public servant.
“I don’t believe I ever have. I don’t believe I ever will,” she said in the clip. “I’m going to do the best that I can to level with the American people.”
“How can you be this bad at it?” Colbert said on his show. “Just say no. You’re running for president of the United States. Even Richard Nixon knew to say, ‘I am not a crook.’ He didn’t say, ‘It has always been my intention as far as I believe, I will do the best I can not to be a crook.’ “
After Clinton watched the video, moderator Chris Cuomo asked her if she’d like to revise her previous answer.
“I’ll just say no,” Clinton responded with a smile.
